“It’s self-defeating to pretend to always know everything.”

That quote hit. Because let’s be honest—we all know someone who acts like they’ve got life totally dialed in. They have a hot take on every topic, never ask questions, and always have the last word.

Maybe you’ve even caught yourself doing it—I know I have.

But here’s the truth: when you act like you know everything, you’re not proving anything. You’re just cutting yourself off from the opportunity to grow.

It’s easy to slip into that mode, especially when you’re confident in something. But confidence and curiosity can (and should) coexist. Even if you’re great at what you do, there’s always something new to learn.

  • A faster method

  • A fresh angle

  • A question that unlocks a better answer

  • A reminder that someone else’s perspective might be just as valid

Pretending to have all the answers makes you stagnant. It shuts down connection, creativity, and the exact kind of conversations that lead to real insight.

And most of the time, the stuff that moves the needle in life—personally, professionally, or even spiritually—is the stuff you don’t see coming. The stuff you didn’t already know.

This week’s challenge:

Catch yourself when you’re tempted to say “yeah, I already knew that.”
Instead, pause. Ask a question.
Be open. Let someone teach you something—even if it’s small.

Maybe it’s a better way to cook eggs. Maybe it’s a new way to communicate with your partner. Maybe it’s just someone calling you out gently on something you’ve been blind to. All of it matters.

It’s wild to think this newsletter has been going strong for nearly a year. And while it’s not ending just yet, we’re getting close to the finish line of this version of it.

There are still a few more coming your way, but just know this: whether you’ve been here since week one or this is your first read, I’m seriously grateful you’re along for the ride. Every reply, every share, every quiet moment you’ve read and reflected—it means something.

Let’s finish strong. Stay curious. Stay human. And keep showing up.

Catch you next week,
—Todd

PS: Something new is coming—more fun, and maybe a little weird (in the best way).
